Today commences the Hindu Ganesh Festival (Happy Birthday to our favorite Elephant Diety).But this festival along with it's religious significance should be important to every Indian-no matter what religion for it marks the Indian people's struggle against the British and their ingenuity and triumph in trying to gain independence using this festival.So thank-you Gannubhai....Cheers to being Indian today !
But I love Ganesh Festival for one more aweet reason - the mighty Modak. Available only in these 10 days Lord Ganesha's favorite dessert is also one of mine and whatever version you find of it- Steamed and stuffed withjaggery and coconut,fried with spice fillings or the small store-bought milk concentrate varitey these treats are amazing. Yummmeeee
